| | | Mike HandlerGuitar, Harmonica, Percussion, and Vocals Michael Handler got into the blues and folk music during the 60's, when
learning the guitar was the start of a long musical journey for so many of us.
He studied in high school with the local music store guitar teacher who was
starting his own band-- The Warlocks- that later became the Grateful Dead.
That teacher was the late Jerry Garcia, but soon Handler was off into the jazz
world and later worked in the media.  His bands were the usual folk/rock
groups so popular in the late 60's and 70's, but his work in radio took him
off the stage for several years.  For the last two decades, he has
learned jazz and blues harmonica, played with some jazz greats, and been a
regular at jazz and blues jazz sessions around the Bay Area.  He is a
  founding member of the Outbacks.
